I started my Horticultural career by studying full time for a BTEC National Award in Horticulture at Hadlow College in Kent, gaining a distinction. Obtaining this qualification lead to me getting a yearlong position as a student gardener in one of most historically important gardens in the world, Hestercombe Gardens in Somerset. Created at the beginning of the 20th century by Sir Edwin Lutyens and Gertrude Jekyll, it has been restored to its former glory using the exact planting plans from over 100 years ago.

I followed this by moving to Windsor to work for the Crown Estate as a lone gardener running a 4 acre garden in the Great Park. This role involved maintaining and developing shrub and herbaceous borders, rose care (climber, shrub, and hybrid tea varieties), container gardening, lawn maintenance and care, fruit cage, vegetable plot, and propagation.

In November 2010 I began working for Tottenham Hotspur Football Club, helping to create there new 77 acre training facility. I also spent time based in the chairman's, Daniels Levy's garden, undertaking usual maintenance work. Due to a change of circumstances, I moved to Nottingham in January and had been running a 2.5 acre walled garden. Please head to the gallery page for photos of these roles.

Along with this practical experience I have the NPTC PA1/PA6 Certificate of Competence in Safe Use of Pesticides, so if needed I can legally carry out weed control in your garden using chemicals such as Roundup Biactive. I also have NPTC CS30 Chainsaw Maintenance and Cross Cutting qualification

Meristem is my gardening business based in the Nottingham area. I offer you more than just maintenance, I can use my horticultural experience to develop and improve your garden into something special. Part of this can be to get you involved in the development with me, maybe putting some of the ideas you have often thought about into practise.
